According to a report from the Department of Energy on August 12 th , the average retail price of
diesel has continued to drop, by 2.1 cents to $3.011 per gallon. The drop was the sixth to be
reported since July 15 th . In comparison to the previous year, the price of diesel fell by 20.6 cents.
The cost was at $3.217 per gallon the last year.
The price falling was experienced everywhere. The most affected place was New England,
where the price of a gallon of diesel fell by 3.4 cents to $3.073. In California, where the price
dropped by 3.1 cents, has the highest cost of diesel per gallon in the nation, at $3.909 while the
cheapest was reported to be at $2.763 per gallon in the Gulf Coast states.
Nationally, the average price of gasoline fell by 6.4 cents to $2.624 per gallon, 21.9 cents
cheaper in comparison to the cost the previous year.
