The Georgia Department of Transportation plans to build truck-only roadway lines between McDonough and Macon along Interstate 75. The purpose of this project is to improve traffic and operators' safety while driving. Only semi-trucks and other commercial vehicles will use the roadway. And with these new lanes between truck drivers and passenger drivers will be a barrier that will make everyone safer while on the road.

The I-75 Commercial Vehicle Lane Project will stretch for about 41 miles. And the project will cost $1.8 billion. The counties that will be served by the project are Henry, Spalding, Butts, Lamar, and Monroe. The lanes will offer a free and safe way to the motorists' various destinations.

Truck-only roadway lanes completed by 2028.

Projections show that the project will be complete by 2028, starting by 2024. In addition, some parts of I-75 within Atlanta serve lots of people, and predictions for the traffic is to keep growing. So, the project will provide efficiency and safety, reducing traffic by 40% by 2030. The Major Mobility Investment Program projected that the Georgia Department of Transportation might be able to speed up the process and open traffic two years earlier than what was initially projected.

As of today, December 15th, public comments on the matter will no longer be accepted.
