Volvo Trucks made an announcement acknowledging the fact that they have come up with
electric concept trucks that will be used in construction operations and regional transportation.
The plan is to have a few chosen customers test a few of the prospective electric trucks. The
company’s unit in Gothenburg, Sweden, reiterated that more ventures for commercial purposes
concerning the electric vehicles would follow later on with time.

Lars Mårtensson, director of environment and innovation at Volvo Trucks, stated that there are
lots of trucks that carry out regional goods dissemination, covering a whole 49,709 mails
annually on an average scale. He added that the adoption of the electric vehicles in the business
would mean that there would be a boost to climate as long as the electricity is made from
renewable energy.

Mårtensson acknowledged that the process requires several factors to be met to speed up the
electrification. Charging infrastructure must be extensively availed to ensure that enough transfer
capacity is achieved for the future. He said that it’s also up to shippers to remain compliant by
accepting more extended contracts and providing payments for sustainable transport, in addition
to other financial incentives.
